• Night Trap is infamous for its part in the 1990s Congressional hearings on video game violence. These hearings eventually led to the ESRB rating system.
• The game's creators launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2014 to raise money for a re-release dubbed "Night Trap ReVamped" but the funding fell short of its goal. The re-release was brought back to life in 2016 when an independent developer named Tyler Hogle made a bootleg mobile version of the game that garnered him a licensing deal.

It's goofy as hell and wears the iconography of early 90s mainstream media like a badge of honour. Presented here with insightful extras and a modern lick of paint, if you succumb to its corny charms, this is a game as entertaining to play as it is to watch.

For whatever it's worth, I like Night Trap. It is a bad game, but I like it. Screaming Villains' love-letter to one of the most notorious video games of all time has to be the most oddly-conceived re-release in gaming history. But I can't think of another game, that's so bad, that somehow deserves the recognition so much.
