Released in 1987 by Worlds of Wonder, the Action Max was for use with Action Max VCR games. The player would fix a sensor to the television and view the VCR tapes. When targets flashed onscreen, the player would shoot at the screen and the Action Max base unit would keep score.

There are only five games that were ever released for the Action Max. There is an unreleased sixth game called "Fright Night."
