In April 2019, YouTube announced it will be working on its own interactive programming. A dedicated interactive division was created to develop interactive programming and live specials.
"We now have amazing new tools and opportunities to create and tell multilayered and interactive stories," Susanne Daniels, YouTube's head of original programming, said in a statement.
